Thanks so much for sharing your love of Burt’s Bees products and for providing great feedback. I noticed that many of you have inquired about specific products that have been discontinued. As any green thumb knows, a garden won’t flourish unless you routinely trim the branches, nip the buds and pull the weeds. When we choose to discontinue a product, that’s what we’re doing – creating space for new and better things to grow. Like you, we grow attached to our products, so the decision to discontinue one is very difficult. However, we believe that like all things, our product offerings must cycle and renew themselves, so we launch new products to better meet your needs. We make products for you, so we rely on your comments and feedback to help us thrive so we can offer you the very best.
Please keep your comments coming – we are listening. You told us how much you missed our Fig Lipstick, so we created a Lip Shimmer in Fig. You craved Bay Rum, so we made it available online as well as launched a whole new Men’s Line – Natural Skin Care for Men. For those asking for more bar soaps, we have three new bar soaps coming out in January 2008 and we already have a bar soap just for Men. Due to the format of our blog, we cannot address each product question individually, but I encourage you to email us at info@burtsbees.com with any specific product questions or leave your email address after your comment, and we will contact you.

Dear Mr. Replogle,
I’m writing with a new product suggestion I hope you’ll develop: biodegradable unbleached waxed paper.
It may sound a bit far afield from your usual line of Burt’s Bees and Baby Bee cosmetic and health care products. I know you make lotions and creams with ingredients good–and safe–enough to eat, if you had a mind to. But as a company that incorporates several million tons of beeswax a year into your products, maybe you could partner with your parent company, Clorox, and together come up with an inexpensive solution to conventional, nonbiodegradable paraffin-waxed papers.
So far I haven’t been able to find a truly biodegradable waxed paper, made with unbleached paper and non-toxic wax, to use as a wrapper for my son’s snacks at preschool. Wouldn’t it be great if he and all his classmates could just toss used biodegradable waxed paper into the worm bin or compost bin when they’re done with lunch?
If you were to offer an alternative, I’d bet a lot of parents would really go for it. You already have the biodegradable wax part of it down, how about the unbleached paper part? Think how many plastic sandwich bags could be substituted with a much earth-friendlier alternative.
I’m urging all my parent friends to chime in with their support to let you know there’s a market for this product. If you make it, we’ll buy it.
Thanks for listening.
Sincerely,"

That would be a fantastic product! Burt's Bees, please look into it!
I would definitely go for biodegradable unbleached waxed paper! As a mom, I couldn't think of a better alternative to those plastic sandwich bags, and for use in the kitchen. I give that idea a thumbs up!
As an environmentally-conscious high school student, I fully support this proposal. It's concerning to me how much waste, especially in terms of plastic, my one, small school generates. Taking a glance at the garbage bags at my school has opened my eyes to the necessity of being responsible caretakers of Earth!
I would love to see biodegradable unbleached waxed paper available for something completely different: candy wrappers, as you can see in this blog entry http://sustainablerays.blogspot.com/2008/03/remembering-waxed-paper.html (and a couple of other entries labeled "candywrappers.") Beeswax paper would be perfect for an inner wrapper, with a recycled paper outer wrapper!
Hi I just wanted to let those who are interested know that you can find unbleached natural waxed paper bags from Natural Value. They are landfill safe. I got them from a natural food store in Annville, PA. Check you local natural food store near the paper products.
