Burt’s Bees and The Greater Good?

It may seem like a lofty goal but to us, it’s at our core. For us, a dialogue and platform for sharing knowledge and exploring ideas is inherently a part of ensuring The Greater Good. The Greater Good isn’t words on a page or a catchy but meaningless corporate tagline. It means that as a company, we’re committed to creating a world where people have the information and tools needed to make the highest ethical choices and to do the best for themselves, their family and the environment.

Within our walls, we say it simply by our culture statement – “We Care.” Burt’s Bees is a place where it’s not just about the product that we make. Yes, we take pride and put a lot of care and effort into our products, as we should, but it would leave many of us feeling empty if that’s all we focused on. As Burt’s Bees continues to grow and change and explore, we, as employees, desire to feel a part of something bigger than ourselves.

We now live and breathe our model of The Greater Good. We take it seriously, looking at how as a company and individually, we can improve the world around us to achieve well-being, social responsibility and sustainability. We have only just begun our journey, but we’re committed to walking the talk. And we’ll keep you posted on where we are as we learn and grow together …

Still FEEL'N FLAKY
I would like to say that I am disappointed that the Product FEEL'N FLAKY Shampoo has been discountued! Please consider adding FEEL'N FLAKY Shampoo again. This product allows me to go without the itch and flakes that I lived with for a while until I discovered FEEL'N FLAKY.
There does not appear to be a replacement for this item.

How do you guys feel about now being part of the Clorox company? Aren't they everything this company is not about?

Thank you! I love your products. I also love the fact that you are trying to repair the damage that has been done to nature because of genetic tampering with the crops through cloning--one possible cause of the demise of bees. Not to mention the erosion of nature and land due to overbuilding. In my town, grass and flowers have been replaced by cement. Do people realize that there are consequences to their decisions to pave over every single piece of nature? Where will the birds live and eat when they spray away every single insect with toxic pesticides and destroy all of the trees on the street?
What happens to the birds and other animals, will happen to people! The bees are a sign that our planet is ailing and we need to pay attention....

I was totally dismayed to discover that the Feel'n Flaky shampoo is discontinued!!! It has helped my son and myself tremendously with our scalp issues. I don't know what we are going to do now.

I entered your website thru the link that offers info on local CSAs. I am a committed environmentalist. While I was on your site, I looked into this blog, and was shocked to see the words Clorox Company. You must know of the environmental devastation that is wreaked by chlorine. In the name of profit the Clorox Company encourages people to use chlorine bleach too freely. They even had an ad campaign telling people to flush chlorine bleach down their toilets every day! And this was at the same time that Greenpeace was educating the public about the dangers of chlorine in the environment. You say that you are going to "openly address these questions" but you do not - you only justify your action by "the greater good." I try not to be alarmist, but one can't help but wonder whether CCD is a symptom of the general environmental collapse that seems inevitable, if we continue on the way we are. Corporations like the Clorox Company are busily poisoning the planet. Surely there was an alternative funding source for you? Will your agreement with the Clorox Company permit you to educate people about the hazards of chlorine bleach in public forum? What are the alternatives to the use of chlorine bleach? Please address these questions.

I was very impressed with the sample you sent to me of the Thoroughly Therapeutic Honey & Orange body lotion. However, I am very disappointed with the actual bottle I purchased at my local CVS pharmacy. It comes out of the container as if it is separated, ie thick and then runny. The only way I can get it out of the bottle is to lay it flat on the counter and press hard in the middle of the bottle with the palm of my hand. Is this normal; or did I get a bad batch?
